A winter study of a ploughed field
This photo was shot during winter near Montauban. It gives a good idea of the heavy clay like conditions found around the Somme during the winter. Men and animals succumbed to the harsh winter conditions in northern France with many getting stuck or simply disappearing into the earth weighed down by their loads.
It is mounted on a 1 1/2 inch deep frame. It measures 16 x 24 inches and is signed by myself.
